Guitar Companies to Descend Upon Brookfield, Wisconsin at Wilson Center Guitar Competition August 13 – 15

Milwaukee area musical instrument retailer Cascio Interstate Music has partnered with eight different guitar manufacturers and their representatives to be on-hand for the third annual Wilson Center Guitar Competition & Festival, taking place Thursday, August 13, 2015 through Saturday, August 15, 2015 at the Sharon Lynne Wilson Center for the Arts in Brookfield, Wisconsin. The annual, multi-genre festival features four different competitions — Rock/Blues, Fingerstyle, Jazz, and Classical. The weekend will include the semi-final and final rounds of competition, free master classes and clinics, as well as ticketed concerts for the public on all three evenings.
Vendor display booths, open to the public, will be spread throughout the Wilson Center and will include the following manufacturers: Fender, Ibanez, Cordoba, Guild, Dean, Luna, Archer and Breedlove. On-site contests and giveaways will also be offered for guitar fans of all types. Cascio Interstate Music is one of the event's major supporting sponsors and is Wisconsin's largest music store, among the top 20 largest musical instrument retailers in the nation.

Featuring $22,000 in prize money, the first-place winners in each competition will perform live on Saturday, August 15, 2015. 59 semifinalists were recently announced from the pool of YouTube and DVD applications received this spring, and will come from across the US and from other countries to perform live during the weekend’s competition. 12 competitors are in the Rock/Blues category; 15 in the Fingerstyle category; 15 in Jazz; and 17 in Classical. Contestants will travel from Pennsylvania, New York, Minnesota, Maryland, California, Massachusetts, Tennessee, New Mexico, Arkansas, Indiana, Missouri, Florida, Mississippi, Texas and Puerto Rico. Other competitors will come from Italy, Japan, Brazil and Finland.
The festival weekend also includes three ticketed festival concerts, including Croatian virtuoso classical guitarist Ana Vidovic on Thursday, August 13, at 7:30pm; internationally renowned guitarist Troy Stetina and American jazz guitarist Jonathan Kreisberg on Friday, August 14, at 7:30pm; and fingerstyle legend Leo Kottke with special guest, Canada-based guitarist Antoine Dufour on Saturday, August 15, at 7:00pm. Cascio Interstate Music SuperStore's Upcoming Events for Milwaukee Musicians Include Billy Sheehan Bass Clinic, Beginning Guitar Lessons

  • Cascio will present "Restring Your Guitar Day" on Saturday, May 30 from 10am - 4pm. Replacing old, worn out strings on your guitar will make it easier to tune, just like a brand new model! Sponsored by D'Addario Strings, Cascio's professional staff will restring acoustic and electric guitars at no charge, limited to one per family. (Excludes bass, 12-string and nylon string instruments. While supplies last.)
  • On Saturday, June 6, Cascio will present a "Free Reed Giveaway" from 10am - 4pm, sponsored by D'Addario Woodwinds and Rico Reeds. Stop in to the store and get a complimentary reed for the woodwind instrument of your choice, limit one per family. (Excludes double reeds that are used for oboe, bassoon or sarrusophone.) D'Addario is also offering customers a chance to test out their new Select Jazz alto saxophone mouthpieces.
  • Iconic Bassist Billy Sheehan will visit Cascio Interstate on Tuesday, June 9 to present a Bass Guitar Clinic starting at 6 pm, sponsored by Yamaha. Learn tips and techniques from Sheehan, who changed the way bass guitar is played. Rising to cult status in the 80's with his Buffalo, NY based band Talas, Billy was recruited by David Lee Roth when Roth left Van Halen in 1985. He recorded two platinum selling albums with the former Van Halen front man before setting out on his own. Forming Mr. Big in 1989, the band achieved a Billboard #1 single in the US and 14 other countries with "To Be With You" from their 2nd Atlantic Records album release "Lean Into It." While developing his trademark style of playing he has performed over 4,000 live gigs on every continent except Africa and Antarctica.
  • On Monday evenings throughout the month of June, Cascio will present Group Guitar Lessons with instructor Dan Johnston. Two courses are offered, with 5 classes each: Beginning Guitar Course for Kids (18 & under) held from 6:15 pm - 7pm on June 1st, 8th, 15th, 22nd and 29th; and Beginning Guitar Course for Adults (18 & over) held from 7:15 pm - 8pm on those same Monday nights in June. Cascio Interstate Music Recognized with Drum and Percussion Outstanding Dealer Awards

Music retailer Cascio Interstate Music was presented with two awards in the drum category during the music industry's Winter NAMM Show in Anaheim, California. Cascio received an "Outstanding Dealer Award" from the Zildjian Company based on Zildjian sales and merit, along with an "Outstanding Retailer Award" from Vic Firth Company for Cascio's impressive sales growth achievements in 2014. Though 2014 was a challenging year in the percussion market, Cascio was recognized by these two major drum companies.

Guitarists Of All Ages Can Compete for $22,000 of Prize Money in Wisconsin's Wilson Center 2015 Guitar Competition & Festival

First place winners (in each competition) will receive a $3,000 cash prize; second place winners (in each competition) will receive a $1,500 cash prize; and third place winners (in each competition) will receive a $1,000 cash prize. First-place winners in each competition will perform live on Saturday, August 15, 2015.
